The Invisible Load Women Carry
Robina, Gold Coast — In-Person & Telehealth
You're the one who remembers the dentist appointments, notices when the milk's running low, keeps track of everyone's moods, and somehow still shows up for work looking like you have it together. If you're exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix, this is for you.
At Salt Psychology, Kylie Donnolley works with women carrying the mental and emotional load of family, work, and care — the invisible, constant management that rarely gets seen or acknowledged, let alone shared.
What the Invisible Load Actually Looks Like
It's not one big thing — it's hundreds of small ones, all being tracked at once:
-
Being the default parent for schedules, appointments, and emotional check-ins
-
Anticipating everyone else's needs before they're spoken
-
Carrying the mental to-do list even during "time off"
-
Feeling resentful, then guilty for feeling resentful
-
Exhaustion that persists even after rest
-
A quiet sense that if you stopped managing everything, it would all fall apart
This isn't a personal failing or a time-management problem. It's a real and measurable form of labour — and it's treatable.

How Kylie Works With Women Carrying the Load
Kylie is a Registered Psychologist who focuses on working with women navigating burnout, overload, and the compounding pressure of holding everything together — for their families, workplaces, and often ageing parents too.
Drawing on 27 years of experience across education and clinical practice, and evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, and self-compassion-based therapy, Kylie helps clients name the load, understand where it comes from, and build sustainable ways to carry less of it alone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this just about needing to "manage stress better"?
No — the invisible load is a structural pattern, not a personal shortcoming. Therapy here focuses on real redistribution and boundaries, not just coping techniques.
I don't have time for therapy. How is this different?
Many clients start feeling this way. Sessions are designed to give you something sustainable back, not add another task — most find the space itself becomes the relief.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book, though a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP will allow you to access the Medicare rebate.
